Parametric expands RET measuring system with AI-powered analysis and reporting software RETWiz
The complete RET solution helps railway operators and vehicle manufacturers extract relevant insights and metrics from the vast amounts of measurement data at the vehicle–infrastructure interface, reducing the risk of costly damage and failures.
Wilderswil, Switzerland, 15 September 2025 – The railway industry is under heavy pressure: increasing demands for safety, cost control, and availability meet aging infrastructure and tight budgets. At the same time, the need for data-driven solutions that enable quick decisions and objectively evaluate measures is growing. With RET, Parametric now offers a complete platform that addresses these challenges—transforming pure measurement technology into an end-to-end solution for digital maintenance.
From measurement technology to an integrated platform
Since 2024, RET (Rail Edge Telemetry) has been in use as an innovative measuring technology to make the “blind spot” between wheel and rail visible. Now, the Swiss technology company Parametric is taking the next step: with the cloud application RETWiz, the measuring system becomes a comprehensive platform that unites the entire process—from data acquisition to monitoring, analysis, alerting, and reporting—within one open system.
“Our partners and customers know RET as a reliable source of precise measurement data,” explains Andreas Koschak, founder and CEO of Parametric. “With RETWiz, this becomes an integrated solution that not only collects data but also automatically interprets it, visualizes it, and presents it to the user in context.”
From measurement data to clear action impulses
RET devices such as the RET4000 and RET3000 continuously capture high-resolution audio, vibration, climate, and bogie data directly during operation. With RETWiz, this wealth of data is automatically processed in the cloud, evaluated with AI-based classifications and metrics, and made available in a browser for user-friendly analysis.
Railway operators gain:
- Specific metrics for various anomalies across the entire network
- The ability to perform deep drill-down analyses with filtering, sorting, and audio playback
- Chat-based AI evaluation based on filtered data
- Integration of maintenance events such as wheel re-profiling, lubrication, or bogie replacements, automatically included in the analyses
- Daily reports and alarms delivered before the start of work, clearly prioritized
- Export and reporting functions for audits, regulatory compliance, and ESG requirements
The result: operators not only see where and when problems occur but also whether their measures are effective—an essential step towards digital maintenance.
Open system, fast implementation
RET is deliberately designed as an open ecosystem. External measuring devices can be connected via specific gateways. Partner applications or interfaces to control systems can be easily integrated, and even closed-loop controls in the vehicle or infrastructure are possible.
Implementation is simple: a device is installed, the data streams autonomously into the cloud—and within minutes, the first analyses are available. Instead of complex IT projects, operators pay a clear annual fee covering operation, analysis, and support.
Conclusion
With RETWiz, validating and implementing digital maintenance strategies becomes possible not in months, but within hours—practical, affordable, and immediately usable.
