RDR NFC Event Recorder
Battery-powered LoRaWAN NFC Reader for RET Systems
The RDR NFC Reader is a compact, wireless sensor designed for use in Parametric’s RET System, which is applied in railway and infrastructure optimisation.
It enables simple recording and timestamping of manual actions – without integration, cabling, or external infrastructure.
Operating Principle
The reader is installed in vehicles, on infrastructure components, or in depots. By reading NFC tags, manual operations or events can be captured with a precise timestamp.
These data are automatically transmitted via LoRaWAN to the RET Analysis Software, where they are used for validating and tracking measures.
This allows operators to understand if, when, and how a specific measure was carried out and what influence it had on system behaviour – all without any integration into existing systems.
Typical Use Cases
- Bogie exchange
- Wheel reprofiling
- Lubrication processes
- Fault detection during operation
- Vehicle in depot or service mode
Extended Functions
Optionally, the RDR NFC Reader provides digital inputs and outputs:
- Inputs for connecting external buttons or sensor signals
- Outputs that can be controlled via LoRaWAN downlinks (e.g. to trigger alarm lights or acoustic indicators)
Note: An external power supply is required for operating the digital I/Os.
