Parametric retrofits 2,000 devices in Swiss 3G sunset push
Wilderswil, Switzerland – 28 April 2025 – As Switzerland continues to decommission its legacy 3G mobile network, Parametric has quietly reached a major sustainability milestone. Since 2020, the company has upgraded approximately 2,000 devices from 3G to 4G technology—without replacing the core hardware, reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and cost-efficient solutions.
Rather than pursue hardware replacements, Parametric extended the lifespan of existing equipment through meticulous component-level refurbishment. This included replacing modems, renewing power supplies in third-party devices, swapping out defective parts, and reworking enclosures and connectors.
“Our approach is grounded in sustainability and partnership,” said Andreas Koschak, CEO, of Parametric GmbH. “By reusing and upgrading existing systems instead of discarding them, we help reduce electronic waste and lower total cost of ownership for our clients.”
Backed by specialized infrastructure and decades of expertise in communications technologies, Parametric executes these modernizations with speed and precision. The effort not only conserves resources, but also reinforces customer trust and promotes long-term collaboration.
The upgrades are part of Parametric’s broader maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, designed to provide maximum product longevity with minimal environmental impact. With the Swiss 3G network facing imminent shutdown, Parametric’s retrofit strategy exemplifies how businesses can turn a technical phaseout into a win for both the planet and the bottom line.
